Our Jaguars recently took a field trip to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District
A vibrant, multi-level space where coffee beans are roasted on site and sustainability is at the heart of every operation.
During the visit, students learned about Starbucks’ sustainable farming practices, gaining insight into how coffee travels from farm to table and how the company works to ensure fair treatment and support for farmers around the world. The tour offered a unique, real-world perspective on global supply chains, ethical sourcing, and environmental stewardship.
Of course, no trip to the Roastery would be complete without a tasting! Students had the chance to sample freshly roasted coffee, bringing their learning to life through both conversation and experience.
Field experiences like this showcase one of the many ways students at HSCJ explore connections between sustainability, social responsibility, and everyday consumer choices—turning learning into action beyond the classroom.
