We are thrilled to share that students and families recently came together for our first lettuce harvest of the school year!
This hands-on event not only highlighted our commitment to sustainable practices but also fostered a strong sense of community among participants. Events like this are vital for building connections within our #jaguarfamily. They provide a platform for families to engage with each other and with our school’s mission of promoting environmental stewardship and healthy living.
The enthusiasm and teamwork displayed during the harvest were truly inspiring. During the harvest, students and their families worked side by side to carefully harvest, clean, weigh, and bag the freshly grown lettuce. This collaborative effort allowed everyone to engage in meaningful agricultural practices while learning about the importance of local food systems and sustainable gardening.
After completing the lettuce harvest, participants took part in restocking our grow tables with the next round of crops. Excitingly, this upcoming harvest will include an abundance of basil and lemon sorrel. Students had the opportunity to learn about these herbs and their culinary uses, further enriching their understanding of gardening and nutrition.
