Earlier this month, some of our 9th graders in the Climate Justice Seminar experienced an unforgettable outdoor adventure
At @westmorelandsanc as part of an experiential learning trip designed to connect classroom concepts with the natural world.
Students hiked through snow-covered trails, discovered wildlife tracks, and even stepped onto a frozen lake to try their hand at ice fishing—a first for many! Along the way, they learned vital outdoor safety skills, including how to identify and assist if someone shows signs of hypothermia, deepening their understanding of climate, adaptation, and environmental awareness.
This immersive day of exploration was made possible through the partnership and support of @city_to_sanctuary and @pono.nyc, who helped bring this hands-on learning experience to life.
For our students, it was more than just a field trip—it was an opportunity to connect science, sustainability, and social responsibility while gaining a newfound appreciation for the balance between humans and nature.
