Our students recently rolled up their sleeves and made a meaningful impact by volunteering to plant American beach grass at Coney Island Creek Park.
This hands-on environmental project was an incredible opportunity for our young leaders to contribute to climate resilience efforts while learning about the importance of sustainable practices.
The planting of American beach grass plays a critical role in mitigating future flooding impacts in the community. These hardy plants help stabilize the soil, reduce erosion, and provide natural protection against rising tides and storm surges—an essential step in safeguarding coastal ecosystems and neighborhoods.
This experience not only allowed students to connect with nature but also deepened their understanding of how local actions can address global challenges like climate change. By participating in this project, they gained valuable insight into the power of community-driven solutions and the importance of environmental stewardship.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to @riscnyc1 and @nationalwildlifenyc for organizing this impactful event and providing our students with this unique learning opportunity. Your dedication to fostering climate resilience and educating future generations is truly inspiring. Together, we are building a brighter, more sustainable future—one plant at a time. Great job, Jaguars!
